Region on board with e-learning

This article is from York Region
The province and the region continue to move forward with innovative ways to use e-learning opportunities, despite a 32-page report released by Society For Quality Education, York Region District School Board’s Todd Wright says.
The Sky Has Limits, authored by Paul Bennett, explains how Canada was once at the head of the pack when it came to online learning, but has now fallen behind because we aren’t forging ahead with development.
Mr. Wright disagrees with the report, pointing out the local school boards have multiple pilot projects on the go and the province continues to move forward with the e-Learning Ontario project.

Mural Connects ESL Students With Education At Renton Technical College

This article is from Renton Patch
A white L-shaped wall in the lobby of the Basic Studies Department transformed into an artists’ canvas last fall after the program won a small arts project grant from the Renton Municipal Arts Commission.
Renton Technical College (RTC) staff and students, Renton Municipal Arts Commission members and Renton artist Doug Kyes celebrated the lobby’s completed makeover on Friday, Feb. 3.
Funded by a $250 small art project grant from the Renton Municipal Arts Commission awarded in September, ESL students in the Basic Studies program wasted no time in getting their ideas flowing.
