Kannapolis City Schools and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College have started a partnership to help Kannapolis City School parents learn English.
The collaboration allows parents to take ESL classes (English as Second Language) at the A.L. Brown STEM Academy free of charge.
Rowan-Cabarrus is providing the instructors and materials for the classes, and KCS is making the STEM Academy available as the location to host the classes.
The idea grew out of the district’s strategic planning process.
One of the district’s goals is to ensure that Limited English Proficient students have the resources they need to be successful.
